This is a 1908 Gray Marine single-cylinder engine. This engine had not run in more that 50 years. It was restored and installed in a 1930's boat which was also restored. Now we run it on the Barnegat Bay.
The restoration of this 1906 20 HP Reid oil field engine required meticulous attention to detail, preserving its historical integrity while ensuring functionality. Each component, from the massive flywheels to the intricate valve mechanisms, were carefully refurbished to bring the engine back to life. Once restored, it stands as a testament to the ingenuity of early industrial engineering and serves as a captivating piece of living history.
